Geometric Reasoning in the Middle School
This course is designed to provide 7 – 8 teachers with the key mathematical ideas of geometry. Based on both the National Council of the Teachers of Mathematics Standards and PDE content standards for mathematics for grades 7 - 12. Topics include:

• Polygons and Polyhedra
• Symmetry and Tessellations
• Similarity
• Linear and Angular Measurement
• Area, Surface Area, and Volume

In addition to the content, we will focus on student-centered pedagogy. Teachers will have the opportunity to

• Record initial thoughts to problems/Benefit from others’ thoughts
• Confirm one’s own ideas/Expand on everyone’s ideas
• Read, write, and talk about geometry in ways you can introduce to your students so they can read, write, and talk about geometry
