Algebraic Reasoning
This course is designed to provide 7 – 12 teachers with the key mathematical ideas of algebra. Based on both the National Council of the Teachers of Mathematics Standards and PDE content standards for mathematics for grades 7 - 12. Topics include:

• The dreaded Integers
• Real numbers
• Polynomials and Functions
• Matrices
• Operations, Properties, and Solving Equations

In addition to the content, we will focus on student-centered pedagogy. Teachers will have the opportunity to

• Record initial thoughts to problems/Benefit from others’ thoughts
• Confirm one’s own ideas/Expand on everyone’s ideas
• Read, write, and talk about algebra in ways you can introduce to your students so they can read, write, and talk about algebra
• See commonalities among all the chapters in your textbooks so you’re no longer teaching hundreds of separate topics
• Discussion classroom applications for diverse learners
